Electronics engineering, also referred to as electronic engineering, is an engineering discipline where non-linear and active electrical components such as electron tubes, and semiconductor devices, especially transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, are utilized to design electronic circuits, devices and systems, typically also including passive electrical components and based on printed circuit boards. The term denotes a broad engineering field that covers important subfields such as analog electronics, digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power electronics. Electronics engineering deals with implementation of applications, principles and algorithms developed within many related fields, for example solid-state physics, radio engineering, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, systems engineering, computer engineering, instrumentation engineering, electric power control, robotics, and many others.

The mission of ECE department is to develop high quality, technologically competent, confident and socially committed young engineers by providing value based education.
The Department of Electronics & Communication is organizing different academic and non academic activities under the eminent leadership of Dr.S.V Murugaprasad, Principal & Head of the Department. The students association ‘AMPERE’ is conducting various academic activities including workshops, seminars etc.The faculty of the Department regularly attends Faculty Development Programmes.
1. Basic Electronics Laboratory & Workshop
This lab lays the foundation stone for students for all streams in Engineering , which is a pre requisite for gaining basic knowledge in electronics. Main equipments in Electronic workshop are Funcion Generators, Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes, power supplies and soldering stations. This lab also facilitates designing and manufacturing of prototype Printed Circuit Board (PCB), to assemble and test electronic circuits.
2. Digital Electronics Lab
This lab helps the students in developing stong base for students about the working of various digital circuits and implement different digital circuits. The major equipment in the lab include Digital trainer kits, Oscilloscope, Function Generator, Power Supply, Analog & Digital IC Testers.
3. Microprocessor & Embedded Systems Lab
The aim of this lab is to provide the students with the basic and in depth knowledge in microprocessor and microcontroller programming which is very essential to cop up with the industry requirements. The lab includes various equipments like microprocessor kits, ARM kits & 8051 kits.
4. Communication Lab
This lab is equipped for familiarizing students with Microwave and other communication techniques relevant for modern communication systems. The major equipment in the lab includes Klystron Power Supply, Klystron Tube, Gun Power Supply, Gun Oscillator, PIN Modulator, VSWR Meter, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope, Function generator etc.
5. DSP LAB
To equip students for the challenging industrial requirements ,DSP lab is set up with DSP trainer kits & MATLAB Programming.
6. Department Library
The Department consists of a full fledged department library including various text books of national and international publications in the area of Basic Elecronics, Electronic Circuits, Signal Processing, Microprocessors, Electromagnetic theory, VLSI Engineering etc. The Library has back up volumes of the previous year's seminar reports, and project reports for students’ reference.
